A stay inside an art collection
Art
Entering the Grand Hotel della Posta means beginning a journey. An experience where art, architecture, and hospitality coexist naturally, without ever overpowering.
Here, art isn’t on display: it lives within the spaces. It accompanies guests through the rooms, corridors, gardens, and common areas, to be discovered little by little. Each guest thus creates their own intimate and personal story.
An authentic collection
Following the redevelopment project completed in 2008, the owners chose to house several highly valuable pieces from private collections within the hotel.
A clear cultural choice: transforming the Grand Hotel della Posta into a contemporary art residence, where historical heritage dialogues with the present.
The core of the collection
The historical heart of the collection is linked to the Sertoli Da Ponte legacy, with paintings from the 16th to the 19th century and refined cabinetmaking furnishings.
Alongside this heritage, Arturo Martini‘s bronzes reveal the plastic strength and depth of one of the great masters of the twentieth century.
Paolo Punzo‘s Alpine views create a direct dialogue with the Valtellina landscape, while a selection of contemporary European art, displayed throughout the ground floor, cellars, and gardens, completes the exhibition with unexpected and evocative presences.
Daniel Spoerri – Time, the Last Supper, Memory
Among the most intense presences in the collection is Daniel Spoerri, an artist capable of transforming the everyday into profound reflections on time, the end, and memory.
In his works dedicated to the theme of the Last Supper, Spoerri interweaves images, words, and matter, creating a poetic short circuit between the act of eating and the idea of the final passage. The reference is not only religious, but universal: the last meal as the final act, the final choice, the final threshold.
The work Ötzi – The Iceman is emblematic, in which time crystallizes. The preserved body, the silent table, the immobile objects become traces of an existence suspended between life and memory, between history and myth.
Spoerri plays with linguistic associations, double meanings and cultural references, inviting the observer to stop, read, and think.
Placed within the Grand Hotel della Posta, these works require no immediate explanation. They invite their visitors to experience them. They accompany guests in a subtle and calm reflection on the passing of time, the experience of living, and the value of memory.
Art to live
At the Grand Hotel della Posta, art doesn’t interrupt your stay: it accompanies it.
It’s an invitation to slow down, to gaze, to discover. Because here, luxury is about depth and restraint. And every experience truly becomes a stay inside an art collection.
